Lessons · MODEL · PERIOD 1 · LESSON 1.5 · 30 MIN · SAVE BY DAY 25
Transition
By the end of this lesson you will have a transition plan that moves your business onto your Model without putting cash or trust at risk: a route for every current client, the date new sales start on your Model, and the first change on your calendar.
- Every current client, with price, terms and the next renewal or notice date
- One route for each client
- The date from which new sales use your Model
- Work outside your Model scope, and when each piece ends
- The remaining changes in order, one at a time
Why it matters. Your new Model probably differs from what you have already sold. Rebuilding everything at once puts cash and trust at risk. Changing in stages keeps the business running while it moves. Your current clients agreed to terms, and those terms stand: they keep them, and move to the Model at a renewal point or not at all.
What you need. Lesson 1.2 (your offer shape) and 1.4 (your Model).
Do this.
- Open the client list. Coach has filled it from your CRM and payment records. Check each price, term and renewal or notice date against the signed agreement.
- Give each client one route: keep on current terms, move to the Model at renewal, or finish at the end of the current term. Write the reason. On a month-to-month agreement, renewal is the first billing date after the notice period the agreement sets.
- List what you do for current clients that is outside your Model scope: extra calls, private chat channels, custom work. For each item, write whether it continues until that client's renewal or ends on a date the agreement allows.
- Set the date from which every new sale uses your Model offer and price.
- Put the remaining changes in order, each with a date. A change starts only when the one before it is finished. A standing rule, such as a new price for new sales, is finished once it is in effect.
- For any change a client will notice, ask Coach to write and send the message. Once you have approved Coach's voice and knowledge (one sample of each message it will send, and the facts it may state), it sends on your behalf. Mark a change "review first" and Coach holds its message for you; otherwise it sends and logs it. A client who declines a move keeps their current terms or finishes; nobody is moved without agreeing.
- Save.
Done when. By day 25, every current client has a recorded route, new sales have a start date on the Model, and the first change is dated.
Max's example
The same deliverable on his own business
Max's clients A to H at the shown price, with their months in term drafted for his correction, and Max's plan for the routes. His plan, saved day 24. Every client is on Million Dollar Acquisition at $5,000 a month, the price at the time of writing: four months, then monthly continuation, with notice before the next billing date ending it.
| Client | Month in term | Route | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| A, B, C, D, E | Monthly continuation after their first four months | Keep on current terms | Their scope is the Model's scope already |
| F | Month 4 | Keep on current terms | Same scope; continuation starts next month |
| G | Month 3 | Keep on current terms | Same scope |
| H | Month 2 | Keep on current terms | Same scope; install finished last month |
Standing rule: a client who wants to cancel is offered Million Dollar Year, the done-with-you route, at $2,000 every 4 weeks on a twelve-month term. Nobody is moved without agreeing.
Outside the Model: the private chat channel for direct access continues until the in-app thread passes its two-week test, then ends for everyone. Nothing else sits outside the scope.
New sales on the Model from: day 29, the first day of period 2. Every new proposal uses Million Dollar Acquisition at $5,000, with Million Dollar Year beside it as the done-with-you route.
Change sequence:
- Day 29: new proposals use the Model. (First change, finished once in effect.)
- Day 29: the cancellation standing rule is in effect. Coach offers Million Dollar Year to any client who gives notice, and the client chooses. (Finished once in effect.)
- Period 2: the private chat channel moves in-app once the two-week test passes. Coach tells A to H the date, in a message marked review first.
This is a plan. It shows decisions, not results.
The form for this deliverable arrives in the next build step. The list below is what it asks for.
- Client: name, price, term, next renewal or notice date, weekly owner-hours
- Route: keep on current terms, move to the Model at renewal, or finish; and the reason
- Outside the Model: the item, the client, and "continues until renewal" or an end date the agreement allows
- New sales on the Model from: a date
- Change sequence: each change, its date, review first (yes or no), and done or not done
- Client messages: each message, when Coach sent it, and whether you reviewed it first
